Ingredients
For the Pudding Layer:
-
1 box (5.1 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
-
2 cups cold milk
-
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream (or 1 tub whipped topping)
For the Layers:
-
3 ripe bananas, sliced
-
2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
-
1 box vanilla wafers
-
Extra strawberries or banana slices for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Pudding Base
In a large bowl, whisk together instant pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes until thickened.
Stir in sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream to soft peaks (or use pre-made whipped topping).
Fold whipped cream into the pudding mixture until smooth and creamy. Chill while prepping the fruit.
Step 2: Prepare the Fruit
Wash and hull the strawberries, then slice thinly.
Peel and slice bananas into ¼-inch thick rounds.
Use immediately to prevent browning.
Step 3: Layer the Dessert
In a trifle bowl, 9×13 dish, or serving jars, begin layering:
Layer 1: A layer of vanilla wafers on the bottom
Layer 2: A third of the pudding mixture
Layer 3: Sliced bananas and strawberries
Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of pudding.
Decorate the top with additional fruit and crushed wafers if desired.
Step 4: Chill & Serve
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (or overnight) to allow the flavors to meld and the wafers to soften.
Serve chilled and enjoy the creamy, fruity deliciousness.
Notes
Use Ripe Bananas – They’re naturally sweet and soft.
Slice Strawberries Evenly – For beautiful, consistent layers.
Don’t Skip the Chill Time – It enhances the flavor and texture.
Make Individual Servings – Use mason jars or cups for party-ready portions.
Prevent Banana Browning – Toss banana slices in lemon juice if making ahead.
