1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
½ cup all-purpose flour
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp baking powder
For the Toppings:
½ cup red and blue chocolate candies (like M&M’s)
¼ cup white chocolate chips
2 tbsp patriotic sprinkles
Optional: star-shaped candy toppers or icing decorations
Optional Add-Ins:
½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
¼ cup mini marshmallows
¼ cup chocolate chips (for extra gooeyness)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Pan & Oven
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line an 8×8 inch pan with parchment paper or spray with non-stick cooking spray.
Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
Step 3: Add Dry Ingredients
Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined—don’t overmix.
Step 4: Bake the Brownies
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Step 5: Add the Star Spangled Toppings
While brownies are still warm, gently press red and blue candies and white chocolate chips into the top.
Sprinkle with patriotic sprinkles and any star-shaped candy toppers.
Step 6: Cool & Slice
Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
Once cool, lift out using parchment paper and slice into squares.
Notes
Use Melted Butter – It gives a fudgy texture and rich flavor.
Don’t Overbake – Slightly underdone brownies stay moist and chewy.
Add Toppings While Warm – Helps them adhere without melting too much.
Cool Before Cutting – Prevents crumbling and ensures clean slices.
Customize Freely – Swap toppings to match other holidays or themes.
