  • 1/4 head broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1 large carrot, sliced into matchsticks
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced (white and green parts separated)
  • 4 cloves garlic, grated
  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes
  • 8 cups chicken broth
  • 24 oz package store-bought dumplings (e.g., frozen chicken gyoza)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seed oil

Instructions

  1. Heat frying oil in a large pot over high heat.
  2. Add sliced mushrooms, broccoli florets, matchstick carrots, and white parts of green onions. Cook for about 2 minutes until browned and softened.
  3. Stir in grated garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes; cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil; then reduce heat and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Carefully add dumplings to the pot and cook according to package instructions (about 3 minutes).
  6. Stir in soy sauce and toasted sesame seed oil; sprinkle with remaining green onion tops before serving.
