Ingredients
Oven Fried Feta Rolls with Chili Honey For the Feta Rolls:
- 8 oz feta cheese, crumbled or block
- 1 pack phyllo dough (usually about 10 sheets)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Chili Honey Sauce:
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon chili flakes (or to taste)
- 1 teaspoon lime juice (optional, for added tang)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Chili Honey Sauce In a small saucepan, heat the honey and chili flakes over low heat. Stir well and simmer for about 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
Remove from heat and add lime juice if desired for a tangy finish. Set aside to cool slightly.
Step 2: Prepare the Feta Rolls Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Lay a sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it with melted butter. Place another sheet of phyllo dough on top and brush with butter again. Repeat until you have 4 sheets stacked.
Cut the phyllo dough into 4 even strips.
Place a spoonful of crumbled feta at one end of each strip and season with salt, pepper, and dried oregano.
Carefully roll the phyllo dough around the feta, folding the sides in to form a neat roll.
Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brushing the tops with olive oil for extra crispiness.
Step 3: Bake the Feta Rolls Bake the feta rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Step 4: Drizzle with Chili Honey Once the feta rolls are out of the oven, drizzle them generously with the warm chili honey sauce.
Step 5: Serve Serve the feta rolls warm as an appetizer or snack. Pair with a refreshing drink to balance the heat from the chili honey.
Notes
- Use Fresh Phyllo Dough: Make sure the phyllo dough is fresh for a flaky, crispy texture. If the dough is dry, it will be hard to roll.
- Adjust the Heat: You can adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or fewer chili flakes, depending on your preference.
- Add More Fillings: If you want, you can mix herbs, spinach, or even a small amount of sun-dried tomatoes into the feta before rolling.
