Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (if needed)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
- 3 cups beef broth (or water with bouillon cubes)
- 8 ounces pasta (such as penne, rigatoni, or fusilli)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley or basil, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Beef In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until it’s browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes).
Drain any excess fat if necessary.
Step 2: Sauté the Aromatics Add the chopped onion to the pot and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
Stir in the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for another minute until the garlic becomes fragrant.
Step 3: Add the Broth and Pasta Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer.
Once simmering, add the pasta and stir to combine.
Cover the pot and cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is cooked al dente and has absorbed most of the liquid.
Step 4: Make the Sauce Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, grated Parmesan cheese, and butter.
Continue stirring until the butter has melted and the sauce has thickened to a creamy consistency.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 5: Garnish and Serve Serve the pasta in bowls, garnishing with freshly chopped parsley or basil for added freshness and color.
Notes
- Use Your Favorite Pasta: This recipe works with any short pasta, such as penne, rotini, or bowtie. Just make sure to adjust the cooking time based on the type of pasta you use.
- Adjust the Sauce Consistency: If you want a thicker sauce, let the pasta simmer longer to absorb more liquid. If it’s too thick, add a splash more broth or cream to loosen it up.
- Add Veggies: Feel free to toss in some spinach, mushrooms, or peas to add some veggies to the dish.
- Leftovers: This pasta reheats well! Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
