Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 cups cold water (divided)
  • 1 ¼ cups fresh lemon juice (from about 710 lemons)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water over medium-low heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves to create a simple syrup. Set aside to cool.
  2. Juice all lemons using a juicer or citrus press and strain out seeds and pulp if desired.
  3. In a pitcher, mix the cooled simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, and remaining 4 cups of cold water. Adjust sweetness by adding more lemon juice or water as needed.
  4. Chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving over ice.
