Ingredients
- 4 slices of dense bread (sourdough recommended)
- 1 1/2 cups leftover macaroni & cheese
- 8 slices of American or cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Heat ¾ cup of macaroni & cheese in a nonstick skillet over medium heat until warm, about 3-4 minutes.
- Shape the warmed mac & cheese into a pile the size of your bread and top with 2 slices of cheese.
- Butter one side of two slices of bread evenly.
- In another skillet over medium heat, place one slice of buttered bread down, butter side facing down, and add 2 slices of cheese.
- Check for doneness by lifting a corner; it should be lightly browned.
- Once browned, transfer the mac & cheese onto the cheesy slice using a spatula.
- Top with another slice of bread (toasted side up) and gently press together.
