  • ½ cup fine dry breadcrumbs

  • ¼ cup yellow onion (finely diced)

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 large yellow onions (thinly sliced into half-moon shapes)
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
  • parsley (chopped for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground chicken, beaten egg, parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, kosher salt, black pepper, whole milk, fine dry breadcrumbs, minced garlic, and finely diced yellow onion until just mixed.
  3. Form into one-inch meatballs and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake for about 20 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  5. Meanwhile, in a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and oil; add sliced onions and cook until golden brown (about 25 minutes), stirring occasionally.
  6. Stir in flour and cook for an additional minute before gradually adding beef broth while stirring.
