Ingredients

For the Fries:
3 medium russet potatoes (or Yukon Gold), peeled or unpeeled
1½ tbsp olive oil
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp smoked paprika (optional, for added depth)
Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the Garlic Parmesan Topping:
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
2 cloves garlic, finely minced or pressed
¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Extra salt to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Potatoes

  1. Wash and scrub potatoes. Peel if desired.

  2. Cut into thin fries—about ¼ inch thick for even cooking.

  3. Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 20–30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  4. Drain and dry thoroughly using paper towels or a clean kitchen towel.

Step 2: Season the Fries

  1. In a large bowl, toss the dried fries with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  2. Make sure each fry is evenly coated for maximum flavor and crispiness.

Step 3: Air Fry the Fries

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C).

  2. Arrange fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to work in batches to avoid overcrowding.

  3. Cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until fries are golden brown and crispy.

  4. Repeat with remaining batches.

Step 4: Make the Garlic Parmesan Topping

  1. While the fries are cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl.

  2. Stir in minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes (or heat for 15–20 seconds in microwave until fragrant).

  3. Once fries are cooked, toss them in the garlic butter and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese.

  4. Add chopped parsley and a pinch more salt, if needed.

Step 5: Serve Hot

  1. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

  2. Pair with garlic aioli, ranch, or marinara for dipping.

Notes

Soak the Potatoes – This removes excess starch for crispier fries.
Dry Thoroughly – Any moisture will steam the fries instead of crisping them.
Work in Batches – Overcrowding the basket prevents proper air circulation.
Shake Halfway – This ensures all sides crisp up evenly.
Serve Fresh – Fries are best enjoyed straight from the air fryer.
