Ingredients
For the Fries:
3 medium russet potatoes (or Yukon Gold), peeled or unpeeled
1½ tbsp olive oil
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp smoked paprika (optional, for added depth)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the Garlic Parmesan Topping:
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
2 cloves garlic, finely minced or pressed
¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Extra salt to taste
Instructions
Step 1: Prep the Potatoes
-
Wash and scrub potatoes. Peel if desired.
-
Cut into thin fries—about ¼ inch thick for even cooking.
-
Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 20–30 minutes to remove excess starch.
-
Drain and dry thoroughly using paper towels or a clean kitchen towel.
Step 2: Season the Fries
-
In a large bowl, toss the dried fries with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
-
Make sure each fry is evenly coated for maximum flavor and crispiness.
Step 3: Air Fry the Fries
-
Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C).
-
Arrange fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to work in batches to avoid overcrowding.
-
Cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until fries are golden brown and crispy.
-
Repeat with remaining batches.
Step 4: Make the Garlic Parmesan Topping
-
While the fries are cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl.
-
Stir in minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes (or heat for 15–20 seconds in microwave until fragrant).
-
Once fries are cooked, toss them in the garlic butter and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese.
-
Add chopped parsley and a pinch more salt, if needed.
Step 5: Serve Hot
-
Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
-
Pair with garlic aioli, ranch, or marinara for dipping.
Notes
Soak the Potatoes – This removes excess starch for crispier fries.
Dry Thoroughly – Any moisture will steam the fries instead of crisping them.
Work in Batches – Overcrowding the basket prevents proper air circulation.
Shake Halfway – This ensures all sides crisp up evenly.
Serve Fresh – Fries are best enjoyed straight from the air fryer.
