Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • ¼ tsp baking powder

  • Pinch of salt

  • 3 tbsp milk (any kind works)

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (or melted butter)

  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 tbsp chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

Optional Toppings:

  • Whipped cream

  • Ice cream

  • Extra chocolate chips

  • Chopped nuts

Instructions

Step 1: Mix Dry Ingredients

  1. In a microwave-safe mug, add the flour, sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.

  2. Stir with a spoon until evenly combined.

Step 2: Add Wet Ingredients

  1. Add milk, oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract to the mug.

  2. Stir until the batter is smooth and no lumps remain.

Step 3: Stir in the Chocolate Chips

  1. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.

  2. Sprinkle a few more chips on top if you like an extra gooey finish.

Step 4: Microwave to Perfection

  1. Microwave on high for 60 to 90 seconds.

  2. Start with 60 seconds, then add time in 10-second increments until the center is just set.

  3. The cake should rise and look fluffy but still moist.

Step 5: Cool & Serve

  1. Let the mug cake cool for 1-2 minutes (it’ll be hot!).

  2. Add toppings like whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.

  3. Grab a spoon and dig in!

Notes

Don’t Overcook – Microwave in short bursts after the 60-second mark to avoid a dry cake.
Mix Thoroughly – Make sure there are no dry flour pockets in your mug.
Use a Bigger Mug – Leave room for the cake to rise without spilling over.
Add Extra Flavor – Try a dash of cinnamon, espresso powder, or a spoonful of peanut butter.
